Print, dots and pink

So now the summerdress - which I showed a little bit of recently - is done. I have had this fabric for a long time. I couldn't get myself to use it. But having the Rosamarie pattern in my hands, I knew that it was time to make the fabric into something.

At first I wanted the dress to be very simple and without any other colours or prints being added. I thought that the pink and white print was enough to make the dress look fine.

But when I started making the neckline, I had a sudden urge to add something wild to it. I really like what happens when different patterns are put together.

So the orange bias tape with dots was a perfect choice. I love pink and orange together!

The bias tape called out for more dots on orange, and I had to make 2 fabric covered buttons for the front of the neckline...

And that was it!

I really like the A-line shape which the dress has. I can see it as a dress, but also as a tunic with trousers under. I made a size 6 years - due to the shape I think that it will be wonderful for playing and running. Freedom to move is so important in a piece of clothes, if you ask me....no matter whether it is a pair of trousers, a dress or a skirt.

  6. I like this very much. The orange really works well with the pink and keeps the dress from looking too precious. Wonderful work!

  7. Hej Ulla
    Hvor er den smuk.
    Er stoffet fra Amy Butler?
Og det småprikkede har du også købt det over there?
Virkelig nogle skønne detaljer.Helt sikkert unik.

    ...............

Thank you, thank you, thank you so much, Amy :0)

I actually wouldn't mind having something in this fabric either - that makes three of us ;0))

    ...............

Thank you very much, Ruth :0) The orange simply had to be added - and since it's a bias tape and includes sewing by hand, it's almost a necessity :0) I love sewing by hand, you know ;0)

    ..............

Oh, thanks a lot, Di :0) The A shape is also one of my favourite styles - both for children and adults. Making one for you is no problem ;0))

The shape actually looks rather similar to the one I recently made with the birds and the dots.

    ..............

I'm really happy that you like it, icile - thank you very much. :0)

I'm thrilled that the dress doesn't look to precious to you, because that's exactly what I aimed for - I didn't want it to look too girly and romatic.

    ..............

Rigtige mange gange tak, Silas og Sol. Hvor er det sødt af dig. :0)

    Mange hilsner
    Ulla

    ...............

Iinu thank you very much :0)) A master in dresses is what you are. You have made so many recently, which are perfect for summer days.

It definitely isn't the last time I mixed orange and pink ;0)

  10. your little dress is adorable. I am just about to leave for the States where I will be seeing my one year old niece - I am taking that fabric with me so I can make her a dress. thanks for the inspiration.
    Are the patterns in English?

  11. Scrumptious! I love the orange you used to accent this sweet pink dress. It's so cute!

    ............

Thank you very much, Cathy :0)) I read it on your blog yesterday, that you were going to the USA and left you a little comment. Lucky, lucky you and the fact that you are going to see your little niece, must make it even better.

The pattern is bought in a Danish shop called STOF200 and I dont think that it comes in English.
But with your sewing skills, I'm sure that you would be able to make it.

Let me know if you want me to help you buy it, and send it to you. ;0)

    ...............

Thanks you very much, Katherine :0))
I simply thouhgt that the dress looked too romantic just in pi´nk and white, so I had to do something.
In my childhood it would have been completely impossible to wear those 2 colours at the same time. Isn't it funny how everything changes?

  13. Hej Ulla

  14. Hej Jeannet!
Mange tak for din kommentar.
