If you loved this book as much as I do, then you will probably be thrilled to hear that another lovely knitting book is on it's way from Vibe Ulrik Søndergaard.

This time it's about knits for babies, and that always comes in handy.

The only bad thing about it is, that we have to wait a while for it to be released. In Denmark it will be published at the end of August. I just pre-ordered it.

I'm doing a bit of baby/toddler knitting myself these days. Remeber this elephant cardigan? So far the 2½ rows of wandering elephants have increased to 7 rows. And I'm actually also doing quite well on the Boxy - like sweater I promised to make for Anne-Sophie in this beautiful yarn.. Soon the front and the back will be done.

And who wouldn't want to keep knitting on a rainy day like this?

Hvis du holdt lige så meget af denne bog, som jeg gør, så bliver du sikkert begejstret for at høre, at endnu en strikkebog er på vej fra Vibe Ulrik Søndergaard.

Denne gang handler det om strik til babyer, og det kan man altid bruge.

Den eneste ting der er træls ved bogen er, at vi må vente et stykke tid før den bliver udgivet. I Danmark kommer den i slutningen af august. Jeg har lige forudbestilt den.

Jeg er selv i gang med lidt baby/små børns strik i disse dage. Husker du denne elefant cardigan? Indtil videre er de 2½ rækker med vandrende elefanter forøget til 7 rækker. Og faktisk går det også helt godt med den Boxy - lignende sweater, som jeg lovede at lave til Anne-Sophie i dette smukke garn. snart er for- og bagstykkerne færdige.

Og hvem ville ikke fortsætte med at strikke på en regnvejrsdag som denne?

A new aggregat

My husband made me a new aggregate. A yarn holder!

I have missed one of those for ages, and meanwhile I have been very irritated at all the tangled threads, whenever I have been knitting something with many different colours of yarn. And at the same time I didn't want to buy and spend several hundreds of kroner on one, when I knew that Christian could make me a very fine yarn holder.

Christian made it from a heavy piece of oak wood and some metal sticks. It's so useful and I love that he put his time and effort in to it.

The wooden bottom doesn't move when I knit, something which I had pointed out as an important matter, before Christian started making it. We have searched for some metal helical eyes, to make the threads go through, but we haven't had the luck yet.

It works perfectly without them, though - and I especially love that the big spools with 5 kilos of yarn or more, don't turn over every time I pull out yarn.

Min mand har lavet et nyt aggregat til mig. En garnholder.

Jeg har manglet sådan en i evigheder, og imens har jeg været frygtelig irriteret over alle de filtrede tråde, når jeg har strikket noget med mange forskellige farver. Og samtidig ville jeg ikke købe en og betale flere hundrede kroner for den, når jeg vidste at Christian kunne lave en rigtig fin garnholder til mig.

Christian lavede den af et tungt stykke egetræ og nogle metal pinde (i mangel af bedre ord). Den er så anvendelig og jeg elsker at han har lagt tid og kræfter i den.

Træbunden bevæger sig ikke når jeg strikker, noget jeg havde fremhævet som en vigtig detalje, før Christian begyndte at lave den. Vi har ledt efter nogle metal lignende spiraler, som trådene skulle gå igennem, men vi har ikke haft heldet med os endnu.

Den virker dog perfekt uden dem - og jeg kan specielt godt lide at de store spoler med 5 kilo garn, eller mere, ikke vælter når jeg trækker i garnet.

MY DAILY JUNK is a lovely shop!

If you feel the need for lovely stuff, then you just have to follow the way to Wenche's new beautiful shop. It's called My Daily Junk and is owned by Wenche whom you might know from the blog Tusindfryd. She's also the talented dollmaker behind the book Tusindfryd dukker.

She is amazing at finding cool items, which can make your day even more colourful and happy. and there is even a gorgeous DIY kit for making a little Waldorf doll.

Be prepared to get tempted when you enter the shop. I have already bought stickers and other lovely things which I can't live without...

Hvis du føler trang til skønne ting, så skal du bare følge vejen til Wenches nye fine butik. Den hedder My Daily Junk og er ejet af Wenche, som du måske allerede kender fra bloggen Tusindfryd. Hun er også den talentfuld dukkemager bag bogen Tusindfryds dukker.

Hun er utrolig god til at finde seje ting som kan gøre din dag endnu mere farverig og glad. Og der er endda et superfint gør det selv kit, så man kan lave en lille Waldorf dukke.

Vær forberedt på at blive fristet når du "træder ind" i butikken. Jeg har allerede købt stickers og andre skønne ting som jeg ikke kan være foruden...

Prinsesse Toben made my day!

In my head I had an idea for colours and materials I wanted to use for this gorgeous poncho by Pickles.

 

I do love the colour mix the designers used for the poncho in the photo, but I wanted to give it my own touch. So I decided to use Blackhill Højlands Wool from Garnudsalg in the colours Prinsesse Toben and Grov Sennep. Unfortunately it took me a while to make up my mind while shopping at Garnudsalg, so due to my fickle the pale pink yarn was sold out in the amount I needed. Typically me!

But I ordered the right amount of Grov Sennep and only 100 grams of Prinsesse Toben. Afterwards I spent a lot of time - read: days - thinking about new options. Which colour could I mix with the Grov Sennep then?

I went to my stash and compared one colour after the other, but I couldn't let go of Prinsesse Toben. But somehow I could only see the poncho in the mix, I had pictured in my head earlier. Don't you know that?

Sunday morning I thought that I wanted to drop by Garnudsalg's website. And there it was again the lovely Prinsesse Toben!! Looking more beautiful than ever before and in 500 gram cones.

Now I expectantly await the 500 grams of yarn...and a small amount of the luxurios Baby Camel Cashmere. Just enough to make myself a cowl or scarf to warm my neck.

I'm so glad that Prinsesse Toben made my day...

I mit hoved havde jeg en idé til farver og materiale til den skønne poncho (ovenover) fra Pickles. Jeg kan nu godt lide det farvemix designerne lavede til ponchoen på fotoet, men jeg ville gerne give den mit eget præg. Så jeg besluttede mig for at bruge Blackhill Højlands Uld fra Garnudsalg, i farverne Prinsesse Toben og Grov Sennep.

Uheldigvis tog det mig lidt tid at bestemme mig, mens jeg handlede hos Garnudsalg, så pga. mit vægelsind blev den pastelfarvede lyserøde udsolgt i den mængde jeg havde brug for. Typisk mig!

Men jeg bestilte den rette mængde af Grov Sennep og blot 100 gram af Prinsesse Toben. Efterfølgende brugte jeg masser af tid (læs: dage) på at tænke på nye muligheder. Hvilken farve kunne jeg så mixe med Grov Sennep?

Jeg kiggede i mit garnlager og sammenlignede den ene farve efter den anden, men jeg kunne ikke slippe tanken om Prinsesse Toben. Jeg kunne blot se ponchoen i det farvemix jeg havde forestillet mig i mit hoved tidligere. Kender du ikke det?

Søndag formiddag tænkte jeg, at jeg lige ville surfe over på Garnudsalgs hjemmeside. Og dér var Prinsesse Toben igen!! Mere smuk ud end nogensinde før og i 500 grams cones.

Nu venter jeg med spænding på de 500 gram garn...og en lille mængde af det luksuriøse Baby Camel Cashmere. Lige præcis nok til at jeg kan lave et halsrør eller et tørklæde til mig selv, så det kan varme min nakke.

Hvor er jeg da glad for at Prinsesse Toben reddede min dag...

Very late the other night, you would have heard me shouting yes in an entusiastic and happy way. A strange way to act in the middle of the night you might think - but maybe you will see why, when you hear that I won the most wonderful book.

Rakel at bare wunderbar had the pleasure of giving away 5 copies of this book - Liv og glade dage by Nicoline Olsen.

How lucky I were to win the book - it was already on my wishlist...at least for a little while. Thank you so much, Rakel.

And speaking of books, I just ordered Lene Holme Samsøe's new book Suveræn strik. I have been waiting for that one. Somehow she tends to inspire so many knitters in Denmark, every time she has been working on more fantastic knit designs. So I have my hopes up for this book too.

Et stort hurra fra en natteravn

Meget sent forleden nat, ville du have kunnet høre mig råbe et entutiastisk og glad yes. Du tænker måske at det var en underlig måde at reagere på midt om natten, men måske forstår du når du hører at det var fordi jeg vandt den mest fantastiske bog.

Rakel fra bloggen bare wunderbar havde fået fornøjelsen af at kunne give 5 stk. af denne bog væk - Liv og glade dage af Nicoline Olsen.

Hvor var jeg heldig at vinde at bogen...den stod allerede på min ønskeddel...i en lille stund. Tusind tak, Rakel.

Apropos bøger, så har jeg netop bestilt Lene holme Samsøes nye bog Suveræn strik. den har jeg virkelig ventet på. Hun formår altid at inspirere så mange danske strikkere, hver gang hun har arbejdet på flere fantastiske strik designs. Så jeg har viekwlig positive forventninger til denne bog også.

My favourite calendar

Today is the day when the calendar I love the most, is - finally - for sale.

For years and years I have bought the calendar made by Skals - skolen for design og og håndarbejde. Always excited to see which beautiful ideas the school has come up with for the coming year.

Each month represents a piece of craft or maybe some food related to the school. And the fact that you find recipes in the back of the calendar, makes it all even more lovely.

This is a photo of November from the 2012 calender, because I haven't been to town to buy my 2013 one yet. I keep it in my kitchen in a place where the fine photo of the month meets my eyes many times during a day. Often, I flick through the pages of the calendar, and refresh the ideas.

If you would like to get one for yourself, you can buy it at the school, at the online shop Sommerfuglen and in many shops in Viborg.

I dag er dagen, hvor min absolutte yndlings kalender - endelig - kommer til salg.

I årevis har jeg købt kalenderen lavet af Skals - skolen for design og håndarbejde. Altid spændt på at se hvilke smukke idéer de har fundet på til det kommende år. 

Hver måned indeholder et stykke håndarbejde eller noget mad der har relation til skolen. Og dét at du kan finde opskrifter på det bagerst i kalenderen, gør den bare endnu mere skøn.

Ovenover er et billede af november fra 2012 udgaven, for jeg har endnu ikke været i byen for at købe mit 2013 eksemplar. Min kalender hænger i mit køkken på et sted, hvor månedens fine foto fanges af mine øjne mange gange i løbet af en dag. Ikke så sjældent bladrer jeg gennem kalenderens sider og genopfrisker årets idéer.

E n g l i s h - b e l o w 

Jeg har klippet og klisteret på det seneste. De smukke mønstre fra CentiLongs nye e-bog skulle samles, så jeg endelig kan komme i gang med de fine modeller.

CentiLong består af Christina fra Rappedikke og Lis fra Karlsons Kludeskab. Begge vanvittigt talentfulde og dygtige kvinder udi håndarbejdets verden. Jeg ynder også at følge deres ord og billeder om livet i det hele taget og føler mig stort set altid inspireret og ikke mindst menneskeligt beriget.

Jeg ved jeg har nævnt det før, men jeg holder ufatteligt meget af mønstre som er enkle og elegante, og som alligevel har helt deres eget cool udtryk. Det formår CentiLongs modeller. Med skønne flæser og små detaljer.
Mønstrene kan laves i str. 1, 2 og 3 år og hvor er jeg - endnu en gang - glad for at vores lille niece Agnes kan agere aftager til tøj i mini størrelse...

E n g l i s h

Lately I have been cutting and pasting. The beautiful patterns from CentiLong's new e-book had to be put together, so I finally can start sewing the lovely designs.

CentiLong is Christina from Rappedikke and Lis from Karlsons Kludeskab. Both extremely talented and skilled women in the world of crafting. I also like keeping up on life in general through their words and pictures, and I almost always feel inspired and not least humanly enriched. 

I know that I have said it before, but I'm incredibly fond of patterns which are simple and elegant, and which have their own cool expressions anyway. CentiLong's designs succeed in that. By gorgeous frills and little details. 

The designs can be made in the sizes 1, 2 and 3 years, and oh how I'm thrilled once more by the fact that our little niece Agnes can act as user of clothes in mini sizes...

BALDVINSSON c h i l d r e n ' s - c l o t h e s

My oldest niece Ida has the sweetest boyfriend called Runi. And Runi's mother Annika Baldvinsson is a talented and experienced designer of children's clothes.

She recently started an online shop - Baldvinsson - with gorgeous clothes, which will excite children as well as their mothers. The clothes are very lovely and the prices are definitely fair.

This afternoon I had a little look at the shop, and ended up buying this fine knitted dress in cotton - for only 125 Danish kroner .


And I also had to have the cool yellow t-shirt with the headphones on the front. (The print is designed by Runi, by the way). It costs 100 Danish kroner.


Both things will be presents for our niece and nephew, but I wish that my own children could fit into them.

There is so much more to see in shop. Both for girls and boys - sizes start at 56 cm and end at 146 cm. You should go have a look...

R o u n d - & - g o r g e o u s

Today I had a look at Lis' lovely shop. I always read her blog, but it had been a while ago since I passed by her shop.

Maybe I shouldn't have done that, because the beautiful pillow below was such a brilliant palet of soft colours, which I just couldn't keep my eyes of. At the moment I'm very fond of mustard coloured interior items and clothes. And along with the coral triangle in the circle the mustard colour is perfect.

So I bought the pillow - but not for me. Anne-Sophie has some of these pillows at home, and I thought that this round beauty might present itself well with them. Now I hope that she likes it - otherwise it's not a problem. I can easily find a good spot for it in my livingroom...

E m m a ' s - d a y

Sunday was a wonderful day for my sweet and lovely niece Emma. She's my beloved bigsister's daughter and the very last of my parents' grandchildren to be confirmated.

You hardly ever see Emma without a big smile on her mouth and in her eyes - she's positive and such a good friend. Besides that she's a very sporty person and loves her dance classes and her football training.

Emma's family had done so many fantastic things to make her day special and happy. And of course a football match was played. Emma picked out her dress with that in mind. I think that was such a cool thought.

We all enjoyed celebrating her and she definitely seemed to have had a great day.

I cross my fingers . . .

. . . and hope to get money for this lamp for my birthday (or else I will get it myself). It's brilliant and with the right amount of colour and inventiveness. It would give me light over my cosy chair and something beautiful to look at during the day. 


I'm 99% sure that my husband will like it too - he loves our Le Klint lamps so this should do as well. This is kind of like Le Klint + modern youth.

The clever people who made it are Nellianna and Kenneth - an architecht and an industrial designer from the Neatherlands. They have the etsy shop Studio Snowpuppe.

If you don't like this particular lamp, then try to see what else they made. I could easily pick out more desirable stuff for my home . .  but I had better not.

In one way or another. . .

. . .I'm going to get this little beauty inside the walls of our house. (My husband doesn't think that it's cool nor beautiful at all).

I can imagine it having a purpose in almost every room of our house, so that part will not be a problem. It oozes 50ties style and charm in the right way. I just know that it will look fine, no matter what one decides to put in it.

It will become available in IKEA soon - in case you like it too. . .It's called RÅSKOG and it's already in the IKEA stores in Denmark. You can get it in a wonderful turquiose or in grey.

Joys of a Thursday

On Thursday afternoon I got this beautiful, beautiful lot of yarn. To open the cardboard box was a burst of colour and life. I have so high hopes for this quality. The mix of cotton and wool will be perfect for me. 

Once more I gladly bought yarn from Garnudsalg.dk.

I'm so amazed and satisfied with the colours and the vivid glow, which has been captured in the threads. Skovbær (forest berry) and Appelsinskræl (orange peel). Even the names are cool and kind of marvellous.

He must be a clever and talented man, that Kenneth, who owns Garnudsalg. A man who very clearly knows his way around fibres, and it shows so much that he puts a lot of carefulness, knowledge and passion into the yarns.

My plan is to make a cardigan for myself - I really, really hope that I get to carry out that wish, before I turn the yarn into something for children. That happens far too often for me!

Another lovely moment was this evening.
I heard a knock on our frontdoor, but when I opened the door, there was no one to be seen. But something was - these 2 fine and transparant ice lanterns. Shaped like stars - with a light so soft and welcoming.

I can't tell you how happy they made me and Christian - whom I yelled at right away so he could see them (at first he thought that something had happened to me!!).

Where on earth did they come from, you might ask yourself? Well, right away I knew who would do such a
heartwarming and brilliant act. This sweet woman.

I hope that I can make Dorte and her family just as surprised and happy some day soon...

I always knew. . .

. . . that Anne-Sophie's 20th birthday would have a bit of a different touch to it. Well, first of all it's special because she turns 20, but also because of the fact that at the exact same age, I gave birth to Anne-Sophie.

It's strange to imagine that I were 20 years old - 20 years ago! So much has happened and somehow time has gone far too fast, and yet suitable slow.

I remember how happy we all were, when we saw that little girl for the first time. And we have felt the same way about her ever since . . . an unexplainable, never ending love, which contains so many feelings. (What a joy it is for us to feel this paramount kind of love twice).

Later we are going to visit Anne-Sophie in her new apartment, and celebrate her. We did start the day with a birthday song on her cellphone. And as we didn't catch her the first time we called, she now has the birthday song on her answering machine. . . maybe not a good thing at all. ;)

I must admit that it still feels a bit strange not to set up the breakfast birthday ritual with presents, birthday mats, the orchestra and candles. But it's a very heartwarming delight that Anne-Sophie's boyfriend Tim made his very own birthday ritual for her this morning - they are both so good at remembering and pleasing each other.

So, my dearest Anne-Sophie - if you see this, I send you a warm happy birthday and my very best birthday hugs.

Old patterns for a new year

Just before Christmas I were lucky to get some old knitting magazines from a very sweet woman. She had been cleaning up her cellar and came across them. What a treasures they were - and what a great thing that she thought of me instead of throwing them away!

There were lots and lots of wonderful patterns, all presented by little chubby babies.

And they have become modern again, the patterns that is. There were some which are to be knitted and some to crochet.

The magazines were published sometime in the late 70ties and I just love the fact, that I remember seing some clothes made by similar recipes in my own childhood. (Worn by babies, of course).

Starting off the new year with old inspiration is absolutely marvellous. It doesn't always have to be brand new ideas.

I hope that you all had a gorgeous holiday time with your loved ones.
I certainly did - it was busy but so nice...

I never thought . . .

. . . that I would be in a spin over tea towels! But I am.

The other day I bought these 2 beauties from HAY. 

Of course I were beckoned by the combination of the colours when I saw them, but when I got to touch the fabric they were made from, it got even better. And the graphic designs in the fabric!

A little box with 2 different towels cost 129 Danish kroner - about 22 $. Not bad for tea towels in that fine quality.

I'm not sure that I will ever get to dry any dishes in the lovely towels. I wouldn't have the heart. But what I do know is, that I want to buy the orange and paleblue set as well.

Or maybe I get lucky and get them for Christmas . . .

Klip-selv-ark

I tell myself that I haven't bought new Christmas ornaments for several years - no new Maileg nisser or any Noilly Noël figurines like I used to. And it's actually true.

So with that in mind - and forgetting all about the beautiful angles from Karina Bækkelund (which arrived yesterday and they are SO lovely!) - I bought the most wonderful knitted and felted Christmas DIY set from Sort Lakrids.

I know that I will love to look at it all for many years ahead, without getting bored of it. And most importanly it will make me smile.

The Christmas set is made by Theresa Jessing and Line Dyrholm. Both artists whom I love for their unique way of expressing themselves.

Hopefully I will be cutting and sewing in a matter of days...

She's back!!

It was with much joy that I read this post on Ida's blog Midtimellem . ( An inspirering and wonderful blog by the way).

Because Ida had fabulous news to tell about the illustrator Karina Bækkelund, whom I admire tremendously for her brilliant work.
A while ago Karina closed her Amio shop and I thought that it was a huge shame, but I'm sure that she had a good reason to do so.

BUT now she has reopened her shop! I'm really delighted that Ida told about it on her blog, because I have been keeping an eye on Karina's shop for months, but at a point I stopped checking it out.

Today it was time to act immediately before all of the beautiful things were sold out. So hopefully these 2 fine angles will hang in my home in a little while.

Rie Elise Larsen Julekugler

I will soon have to try this little tutorial from Rie Elise Larsen.

I love the result...and since tomorrow becomes windy and rainy, I will have the perfect reason to stay indoors doing a bit of playing with paper.
