Pois...or peas...or ærter

Now I'm introducing a new phenomenon to myself: a spare embroidery!
I actually thought that I only used this term in my knitting and sewing...but I grew wiser.

When I saw all those lovely, little, bouncing peas in a Marie Claire magazin, I knew that I had to start the project - right away.

I'm making a new pillow for our couch. We have a big painting in our livingroom with these green colors in it (and many other colors too), so I thought that the peas and the letters would go well with the many shades of paint.

The only bad thing about this project is definitely the very tiny stitches. They are SO hard for me to see! I even had a flashback to my childhood, when my dear grandmother embroidered with a huge magnifying glass between her and the fabric!

And no I haven't frogged this - it's my primary embroidery. ;)

A bit wrinkled...

...and soon to be laundered and ironed. But when is flax not wrinkled?

I promised to show the tunic in "full figure". So here it is. I'm looking forward to use it...

Thoughts

While sorting out her things, my daughter found these fine necklaces and bracelets, which she made for me when she was little.
They have in them lots of fine and dear memories, which we all cherish a lot.

The reason to all the sorting out, is that Anne-sophie is leaving home, to go live in a new appartment with her sweet boyfriend.

A decision we think she is ready to implement for sure. We are so happy on her behalf...and proud. And we totally support her wish.

But still it is such a sad thing too. Neither my husband nor I can imagine how hard it's going to be, not to have Anne-Sophie around all the time. We are a close family and we are going to miss her so, so much....and so is Emil. All of us more than words can describe.

We know that she is going to live no longer than 12-14 kilometres away - thank God for that! - and that we will see her often. But letting go is not easy....in fact I think it's horrible right now.

I keep reminding myself to look back and remember how I felt at the age of 18, when I moved away from home to go live in London for a period of time. How scary and sad, but yet so exciting it was....

Dots, dots, dots...

They seem to be all over the place these days....

The Ursula tunic is ready to wear and the elephant & dot skirt needs a little bit of sewing by hand. Not a bad thing at all on a Sunday evening....if I don't fall asleep.

Strawberry mittens

3   3    3    3    3    3    3    3

Third time lucky is hopefully what I will experience with the mittens I'm making - for the third time! - for my sister. I wonder whether she gets to use them before winter has turned into spring. I will knit as fast as I can!

The first attempt was a misery and I shall say no more about them, but I actually thought, that the second pair would be perfect.

But - as you can see in the picture - they sure didn't go well either! There was a little "thumb issue" with these striped ones.
So, I decided to make a third mitten attempt...this time with strawberries. So far it's going okay....

I found the pattern made by Spilly Jane Knits on ravelry, but you can also buy it in her etsy shop - right here.

For new ideas

For new ideas, originally uploaded by lille-ursus.

New embroidery floss is needed for the ideas I have in my head. They have been there for a while, but I haven't really had the surplus energy to do something about it.

But being in town anyway, made me pop into the fabric store. I had a look at all their new and colorful spring fabrics, eventhough I wanted some flax. But I couldn't pass by all that spring, without having a closer look.
(And a little bit of new - and unnecessary - haberdashery did catch my eye. I adore those little balls on the black trim. ).

Upstairs in the shop I found this beautiful Gingham, which fells so nice. My starting point was a plain piece, but who can say no to check patterns? Not me...
The floss however ended up in the colors which had been on my mind all along.

I'm looking forward to turning my thoughts into tangible things.

D'jo Hanne became the 3rd

I can hardly believe it. Today I got my 3rd give away prize in the mail! A lovely bag for my mobile phone.

Perfect for someone like me, who always manage to pick up the phone too late, because it has "disappeared" in my bag!

This time is was D'jo Hanne who had a lovely give away on her blog. Hanne has her own studio and makes the most wonderful things. She works with numerous materials and she's simply amazing with them all.

Felt, leather, fabric, yarn, beads, paper - you name it! To describe Hanne's work is almost impossible and not at all sufficient. Words are not the answer...pictures are needed. So I strongly recommend you to see her beautiful work on her website.

My mobile bag was also a mix of materials and lovely details....and while I wore it today butterflies must have left the fabric to spread a little spring. Thanks a million, Hanne. ;)

Hartje Bloem

Today I got a wonderful package. A few days ago I won yet another blog give away. Can you believe it!!

This time the owner of the blog is a bit different than the usual blogger we meet in blog world.
If you go here to her really fine blog you will discover, that she is only 14 years old!

is the name of Judith's blog

I cannot tell you how cool I think it is, that Judith has a blog, hosted a giveaway...and even made the beautiful prize herself!!

In the mail I got a lovely bag in the most gorgeous colors and inside of it, was a surprice. A beautiful bracelet. Both things made me really happy.

I have great admiration for Judith. She's every bit as talented as her mother - but in her very own personal way.

Thank you so, so much Judith...
