I might need...

...some new books. Yesterday I had a look at several book shops, and there were so many new and interesting books which will become available in near future.

The one which made me the most happy, was the one below.

Wenche's book about making dolls TUSINDFRYD DUKKER, is about to be released in French - POUPÉES CHIFFON is the French title. That's so wonderful for sweet Wenche - I really hope her book will be available for even more people.

I have a crush on sweaters knitted with short rows. The shape is flattering and beautiful, and working on a knit using that technique is always fun. So the book above looked like something I would like. It's called MON GILET PRÉFÉRÉ is written by Naoko Shimoda, and translated into French by Marie Maurin.

Even though I have a dog, I'm still a big fan of cats and that's exactly the theme for the next book. 

LES CHATS AU POINT DE CROIX is about cats made with X-stitches. No one makes X-stitch books like the French or the Japanese people, in my opinion. So this book is absolutly a good bet for a future book in my bookshelf.

Finally I came across COUTURE ORIGAMI by Céline Girardeau. What a great idea to combine sewing clothes with origami! I'm very excited to see more about the topic, and I wonder whether the patterns will look as elegant through all of the pages, or whether I think that it becomes a bit too much with the origami. The patterns are to be made from 2 years to 12 years.

...nogle nye bøger. I går kiggede jeg på forskellige bog shops, og der var så mange nye og interessante bøger, der bliver tilgængelige i den nærmeste fremtid.

Den der gjorde mig allermest glad, var den herunder.

Wenches bog om at lave dukker TUSINDFRYD DUKKER bliver mest snart udgivet på fransk. POUPÉES CHIFFON er den franske titel. Det er bare dejligt for søde Wenche - jeg håber at virkelig at mange flere får glæde af hendes bog.

Jeg har et blødt hjerte for trøjer strikket med vendestrik. Formen er flatterende og smuk, og at strikke med den teknik er altid sjovt. Så bogen ovenfor så ud som noget jeg vil kunne lide. Den hedder MON GILET PRÉFÉRÉ er skrevet af Naoko Shimoda og overst til fransk af Marie Maurin.

Selvom jeg har en hund, kan jeg nu stadig godt lide katte, og netop det er temaet i denne bog. LES CHATS AU POINT DE CROIX handler om katte syet i korssting. Ingen laver, efter min mening, korsstings bøger som franskmændene og japanerne. Så denne bog er absolut et godt bud på en kommende bog in min bogreol.

Endelig stødte jeg på COUTURE ORIGAMI af Céline Girardeau. Sikke en god idé at kombinere syning af tøj og origami. Jeg er meget spændt på at se mere om emnet, Og jeg er spændt på at se, om mønstrene vil være lige så elegante gennem hele bogen, eller om jeg synes det bliver for meget meget origami delen. Mønstrene kan laves fra størrelse 2 år til 12 år.

Japanese patterns

I found the finest little Japanese shop the other day. And in it some lovely patterns for women. As I have mentioned several times before, I adore clothes which have simple and elegant lines - and with surprising details. 

Like this purple dress/tunic. It is just the kind I love, and the fact that Japanese books and patterns always get presented on photos in the most stylish ways, adds to my enthusiasm.

That's why I ordered it- and without understanding a word of the written Japanese in the site. 

Another dress caught my eye while I were heading towards checkout. One, which I had to have a closer look at as well.

Stunning was the word that came to my mind. Not that it was something we haven't seen before. But the sum of the few details on the dress, convinced me. So, now I hope to have the patterns here within a week or two.

Jeg fandt den fineste lille japanske shop den anden dag. Og i den, nogle skønne sy mønstre til kvinder. Som jeg har fortalt adskillige gange før, elsker jeg tøj som har enkle og elegante linier - og med overraskende detaljer.

Som den lilla kjole/tunika. Det er lige den slags jeg godt kan lide, og det faktum at japanske bøger og mønstre altid bliver vist på fotos på den mest stilfuld måde, øger bare min begejstring.

Så derfor bestilte jeg det - og dét uden at forstå et eneste ord af det skrevne japanske på sitet.

En anden kjole fangede min opmærksomhed mens jeg var på vej til at checke ud. Én som jeg også bare måtte kigge nærmere på.

"Fantastisk" var det ord der først faldt mig ind. Ìkke at den var noget vi ikke har set før. Men summen af de få detaljer på kjolen, overbeviste mig. Så nu håber jeg at have mønstrene her om en uge eller to.

MY DAILY JUNK is a lovely shop!

If you feel the need for lovely stuff, then you just have to follow the way to Wenche's new beautiful shop. It's called My Daily Junk and is owned by Wenche whom you might know from the blog Tusindfryd. She's also the talented dollmaker behind the book Tusindfryd dukker.

She is amazing at finding cool items, which can make your day even more colourful and happy. and there is even a gorgeous DIY kit for making a little Waldorf doll.

Be prepared to get tempted when you enter the shop. I have already bought stickers and other lovely things which I can't live without...

Hvis du føler trang til skønne ting, så skal du bare følge vejen til Wenches nye fine butik. Den hedder My Daily Junk og er ejet af Wenche, som du måske allerede kender fra bloggen Tusindfryd. Hun er også den talentfuld dukkemager bag bogen Tusindfryds dukker.

Hun er utrolig god til at finde seje ting som kan gøre din dag endnu mere farverig og glad. Og der er endda et superfint gør det selv kit, så man kan lave en lille Waldorf dukke.

Vær forberedt på at blive fristet når du "træder ind" i butikken. Jeg har allerede købt stickers og andre skønne ting som jeg ikke kan være foruden...

Pink elephants

They are back...the elephants. And this time they will be walking on little Agnes' arms and body when I get the cardigan done. I will never get tired of the elephants in line, while they hold each other's tales in their trunks.

I'm using Coast yarn from Holst. Perfect for a little toddler's skin. 

De er tilbage...elefanterne. Og denne gang vil de komme til at gå rundt på lille Agnes arme og krop, når jeg får cardiganen færdig. Jeg bliver aldrig træt af elefanterne på linie, mens de holder i hinandens haler med deres snabler.

Jeg bruger Coast garn fra Holst. Det er perfekt til en lille tumlings hud.

Spring inspiration

2 beautiful books came in a flat envelope today - from Århus. I thought that I had ordered them in 

Copenhagen, but instead it was from Tøndering Strik. A gorgeous shop.

I must be getting older, since I can't remember things like that or perhaps my mind is too preoccupied at the moment. I almost know that it's the latter...

The first book is a funny little one - the kind which I adore. Strikkede striber forår. 

It's inspiring to see how the 2 authors think of knitting in another way, and that it doesn't has to be about making clothes when you knit.

Maybe you remember a book with a similar title, which I mentioned last autumn. It's the same 2 women who have written this new book about more stripes.

Nordiske Masker 2 was the other one of the knitting books. I absolutely love the colour scheme which has been used for the models in this book.

2 smukke bøger kom i en flad hvid konvolut i dag - fra Århus. Jeg troede at jeg havde bestilt dem i København, men i stedet for var det hos Tøndering Strik i Århus. En fantastisk butik.

Jeg må være ved at blive gammel, siden jeg ikke kan huske den slags ting, eller også er min hjerne bare optaget af andre ting i øjeblikket. Jeg ved næsten at det skyldes det sidstnævnte.

Den første bog er en sjov lille en - den slags jeg holder af. Strikkede striber forår.

Det er inspirerende at se hvordan de to forfattere tænker på dét at strikke på en anderledes måde, og at det ikke nødvendigvis behøver at handle om tøj når man strikker.

Måske kan du huske, at jeg nævnte en bog med en lignende titel i efteråret. Det er de samme 2 kvinder der har skrevet denne nye bog om striber.

Nordiske Masker 2 var den anden af strikkebøgerne. Jeg elsker simpelthen farveskemaet der er brugt til modellerne i denne bog.

I dream of stary shoulders

Ever since I saw this fantastic cardigan, I have dreamt of making it. I like how the stars give the design a cool touch, and I must say that we could all need to live under lucky stars in my family these days.

The design is by Ann Højgaard Sloth and you can make cardigans for both children and grown ups. Somehow I do think that the stars look better proportioned on the children's size. Or perhaps I'm just influenced by the lovely purple colour along with all the grey, more than by the blue one.

Did I mention that it can be bought here as a kit?
For the time being I had better work on my existing projects, but dreaming is always nice...

Lige siden jeg så denne fantastiske cardigan, har jeg drømt om at lave den. Jeg kan godt lide hvordan stjernerne giver designet et cool touch, og jeg må nok sige at alle i min familie kunne have brug for at leve under lykkebringende stjerner i øjeblikket.

Den er designet af Ann Højgaard Sloth og du kan lave cardigans til både børn og voksne. Men på en eller anden måde synes jeg, at stjernerne ser bedre proportioneret ud på børnestørrelsen. Eller også er jeg bare påvirket af den smukke lilla sammen med alt det grå, fremfor det blå.

Sagde jeg at den kan købes som et kit her?
For nu må jeg hellere arbejde videre på mine eksisterende projekter, men man har jo lov at drømme...

Lady Marion

Den er snart færdig den lille Lady Marion tunika i Hannes design, som jeg er ved at strikke. Det sidste ærme er påbegyndt og da jeg laver den i str. 3-4 år, vil det ikke tage lang tid før jeg kan stoppe garnender og ordne de sidste småtterier på trøjen.

Det smukke Højlands uld fra Garnudsalg i meleret rosa er hoved ingrediensen, samt en masse forskellige rester fra min garnkurv i fortrinsvis pastelfarvede nuancer.

Endnu en gang er det lille Agnes der står for skud. Trøjen er til hende - og faktisk fylder hun 2 lige præcis i dag.

Jeg kan kun anbefale opskriften på det højeste. Den findes både på dansk og på engelsk, og skulle du have en lille dreng er Robin Hood trøjen det perfekte valg efter min mening.

Og forresten glæder jeg mig vildt til Hannes Cirkusprinsesse opskrift kan købes. Så finder jeg hurtigt og nemt en prinsesse at strikke til...

It will soon be done the little Lady Marion tunic in Hanne's design, which I'm knitting. The final sleeve has been started and since I'm making it in size 3-4 years, it will not take long before I can weave in the ends of yarn and finish the last tidbits on the tunic.

The beautiful Højland wool from Garnudsalg in heather rose, is the key ingredient along with a lot of let over yarns in mainly pastel shades.

Once more it's little Agnes who is on the receiving end. The tunic is for her - and actually she turns 2 years old today.

I can highly recommend the pattern. It comes in both Danish and English, and should you have a little boy, then the Robin Hood Sweater is the perfect choice, if you ask me.

And by the way, I'm looking so much forward to buying Hanne's Circus Princess pattern, when it becomes available. Then I can soon and easily find a princess to make it for...

Jeg glæder mig som et lille barn...

...på sådan en fin efterårsdag til disse to nye bøger finder vej til min postkasse her i oktober.

"Snedronningen" af Marianne Isager er en samling af hendes velkendte H.C. Andersen inspirerede mønstre, som man tidligere kun har kunnet købe som kit i hendes shop.

Lige siden jeg så Annes smukke, smukke Grantræ inspirerede poncho, har jeg drømt om at lave én i str. lille, til en pige jeg holder af. Nu er muligheden der uden at skulle ofre store summer på opskrift og garn (som jeg har rigeligt af i forvejen).

Hvad jeg glæder mig mindst lige så meget til,  er Susie Haumanns nye bog "Knit for your kid". Jeg nærmest faldt over den ved et tilfælde, men det gjorde ikke min begejstring mindre.

Jeg er overbevist om at den vil blive rigtig god, hvis den følger i sin forgængers ("All you knit is love") fodspor. 

Nu vil jeg gå ud i min have og finde det gode, lune og sol fyldte hjørne under pæretræet. Sætte mig i den gamle havestol og nyde hvordan Otto, under meget nøje udvælgelse, finder frem til lige præcis den pære blandt mange på jorden, som dufter allersødest. Og som han vil guffe i sig mens han ligger ved mine fødder. Han vil spise den med STORT velbehag, for han elsker pærer...og ribs. Og jeg ved at han ikke stopper ved blot den ene...

I'm as thrilled as a little child...

...on such a fine autumn day, to get these two new books in my mailbox in October.

"Snedronningen" (the snowqueen) by Marianne Isager is a collection of her wellknown patterns inspired by H.C. Andersen, which one only used to be able to by as a knittingkit in her shop.

Ever since I saw Anne's beautiful, beautiful Grantræ poncho, I have dreamt of making a little one, for a girl I like. And now the opportunity is here without having pay large sums of money to buy both pattern as well as yarn (which I have a lot of already).

I'm looking just as much forward to Susie Haumann's new book "Knit for your kid". I came across it by accident, but that definitely didn't minimize my excitement.

I'm convinced that it will be really good if it follows in the footsteps of it's predecessor "All you knit is love".

Now I will go into my garden and find the good, warm and sunny corner under our peartree. I will sit down in our old garden chair and enjoy how Otto, in a very careful way of selection, finds the pear among many on the ground, which smell the very sweetest. the one which he will stuff himself with while he lies at my feet. He will eat the pear with much pleasure, because he LOVES pears...and redcurrants. And I know that he won't stop after having only one...

Jeg strikker af - og i - gamle jeans...

...og hvor er det fedt. Garnet er Blackhill Recycle Cotton Indigo Tweed i farven lys lime, købt hos Garnudsalg.dk. Garnet er fremstillet af vintage jeans, og jeg kan rigtig godt lide tanken om genanvendelse.

Egentlig havde jeg forestillet mig, at det muligvis skulle bruges til endnu en dejlig Liselotte cardigan, men jeg bestemte mig for at strikke BIG rubble af Alison Brookbanks. En løs og luftig model til at smide over en t-shirt, når man fryser.

Og det er den slags opskrift som man ikke behøver tænke det mindste over, hvilket måske ikke gør den til den sjoveste, men jeg synes at trøjen er smuk med sin vidde og de brede rib borter ved ærmer og bul.

I'm knitting with - and in - old jeans...

...and ít's so cool.  The yarn is Blackhill Recycle Cotton Indigo Tweed in the colour bright lime, bought at Garnudsalg.dk. The yarn has been made from vintage jeans, and i really like the idea of recycling.

Actually I had imagined that it should have been used for yet another lovely Liselotte cardigan, but I decided to knit BIG rubble by Alison Brookbanks instead. A lose and airy design to put over a t-shirt, when you are cold.

And it's the kind of pattern which you don't have to think the least bit about while knitting it, which perhaps doesn't make it the most fun one to make, but I think that the sweater is beautiful with it's width and the wide ribbing on the sleeves and the body.

Med en anelse mønster...

Forleden ankom det smukke garn jeg havde bestilt hos Garnudsalg. Og endnu en gang blev jeg ikke skuffet, men derimod yderst begejstret. Blandingen af silke, bomuld og hør i natur har jeg tænkt at bruge til dette smukke Savannah tæppe designet af Rosanna. Et tæppe som absolut fortjener at blive strikket i det skønne garn - jeg er overbevist om at mønsteret i det fjerlette design vil træde frem på fineste vis.

For at det ikke skal løgn har jeg begivet mig ud i endnu et strikke projekt. (Gad vide om jeg nogensinde kommer i gang med at sy igen??)

Jeg har længe været vild med pige cardigans strikket i klassisk retro stil, med en enkelt lodret række hulmønster på hver side langs rækken af knapper og knaphuller. Jeg ville rigtig gerne have strikket Yuna af Cécile Levesque, men kunne ikke vente vente til mønsteret bliver udgivet her i august. Så det blev Frank & Mathilda designet af Inge Sandholt.

Den skal nok også blive okay. Den grå farve vil egne sig fint til den lille Agnes...

 beautiful yarn which I had ordered at Garnudsalg.dk. And once again I didn't get dissappointed, but on the other hand very delighted. The mix in silk, cotton and linen I intend to use on this lovely Savannah blanket designed by Rosanna. A blanket which absolutely deserves to be knitted in the gorgeous yarn - I'm convinced that the pattern in the feathery design will stand out in the most fine way.

And now I have - again, again - started yet another knitting project. (I wonder if I will ever get to sew again?)

For a long time I have been very fond of girly cardigans, knitted in the classic retro style with a vertical line of simpel lace pattern along the lines of buttons and button holes. I would have loved to make Yuna by Cécile Levesque, but didn't have the patience to wait for it to be publiced at the end of August. So I chose Frank & Mathilda by Inge Sandholt.

I'm sure that it will be okay as well. The grey colour will be fine for the little Agnes...

Jeg har klippet og klisteret på det seneste. De smukke mønstre fra CentiLongs nye e-bog skulle samles, så jeg endelig kan komme i gang med de fine modeller.

CentiLong består af Christina fra Rappedikke og Lis fra Karlsons Kludeskab. Begge vanvittigt talentfulde og dygtige kvinder udi håndarbejdets verden. Jeg ynder også at følge deres ord og billeder om livet i det hele taget og føler mig stort set altid inspireret og ikke mindst menneskeligt beriget.

Jeg ved jeg har nævnt det før, men jeg holder ufatteligt meget af mønstre som er enkle og elegante, og som alligevel har helt deres eget cool udtryk. Det formår CentiLongs modeller. Med skønne flæser og små detaljer.
Mønstrene kan laves i str. 1, 2 og 3 år og hvor er jeg - endnu en gang - glad for at vores lille niece Agnes kan agere aftager til tøj i mini størrelse...

Lately I have been cutting and pasting. The beautiful patterns from CentiLong's new e-book had to be put together, so I finally can start sewing the lovely designs.

CentiLong is Christina from Rappedikke and Lis from Karlsons Kludeskab. Both extremely talented and skilled women in the world of crafting. I also like keeping up on life in general through their words and pictures, and I almost always feel inspired and not least humanly enriched. 

I know that I have said it before, but I'm incredibly fond of patterns which are simple and elegant, and which have their own cool expressions anyway. CentiLong's designs succeed in that. By gorgeous frills and little details. 

The designs can be made in the sizes 1, 2 and 3 years, and oh how I'm thrilled once more by the fact that our little niece Agnes can act as user of clothes in mini sizes...

I'm repeating myself...

CIRKA number 2 is done after lying in my knitting basket for days, waiting to be fitted with a suitable button.   

At first I wanted it to get a knotted button, but my attempts to make one, didn't become well. It seemed too small.

So I found the Saftevandsknapper I bought a while ago at Tante Grøn, and used a light lime coloured piece of yarn to sewn one on to the top.

Soon I will try to make myself knit on my existing ongoing knits. The little Buds cardigan, Christian's Alfred and the Gathering Stripes for Thorbjørn. (The last one has been on hold ever since I was told that Thorbjørn has a hard time wearing any knits! I kind of lost the mojo for that particular sweater).

BALDVINSSON c h i l d r e n ' s - c l o t h e s

My oldest niece Ida has the sweetest boyfriend called Runi. And Runi's mother Annika Baldvinsson is a talented and experienced designer of children's clothes.

She recently started an online shop - Baldvinsson - with gorgeous clothes, which will excite children as well as their mothers. The clothes are very lovely and the prices are definitely fair.

This afternoon I had a little look at the shop, and ended up buying this fine knitted dress in cotton - for only 125 Danish kroner .


And I also had to have the cool yellow t-shirt with the headphones on the front. (The print is designed by Runi, by the way). It costs 100 Danish kroner.


Both things will be presents for our niece and nephew, but I wish that my own children could fit into them.

There is so much more to see in shop. Both for girls and boys - sizes start at 56 cm and end at 146 cm. You should go have a look...

R o u n d - & - g o r g e o u s

Today I had a look at Lis' lovely shop. I always read her blog, but it had been a while ago since I passed by her shop.

Maybe I shouldn't have done that, because the beautiful pillow below was such a brilliant palet of soft colours, which I just couldn't keep my eyes of. At the moment I'm very fond of mustard coloured interior items and clothes. And along with the coral triangle in the circle the mustard colour is perfect.

So I bought the pillow - but not for me. Anne-Sophie has some of these pillows at home, and I thought that this round beauty might present itself well with them. Now I hope that she likes it - otherwise it's not a problem. I can easily find a good spot for it in my livingroom...

T h a n k - G o d - f o r - Betty P.

I'm so happy that the online shop Betty P. has started. Since Små Tekstiler closed I have missed a shop with haberdashery of the good kind. Something you don't come across every day. Something which radiates fine quality.

This is my 2nd order from Betty P. and I'm very pleased at shopping there. The pink and white Gingham button at the back of the photo, was intended for my Liselotte cardigan. But after testing the button on the yarn, I have decided that another one is needed. But no harm is done - I know that it will come in handy one day soon.

I cross my fingers . . .

. . . and hope to get money for this lamp for my birthday (or else I will get it myself). It's brilliant and with the right amount of colour and inventiveness. It would give me light over my cosy chair and something beautiful to look at during the day. 


I'm 99% sure that my husband will like it too - he loves our Le Klint lamps so this should do as well. This is kind of like Le Klint + modern youth.

If you don't like this particular lamp, then try to see what else they made. I could easily pick out more desirable stuff for my home . .  but I had better not.

The - almost - perfect cardigan

In the newsletter from lovely Bettekun, I saw this fabulous cardigan designed by Kaffe Fassett. It's so much me. The colour makes me smile and the big redish dots make my smil even wider. Don't you know the feeling when you find a piece of clothes, which really appeals to you? It doesn't happen often for me, but today I were lucky.

Cardigans are almost a must for me. They are so easy to get rid off when it gets too warm. No troublesome sweaters, which make me fell irritated in the blink of an eye, and stuffy if they are too tight in the neckline. I hated that as a child, and I hate it now.

I definitely have enough yarn for now - and many years to come - but this cardigan I had to have. The stripy Liselotte cardigan I'm kniiting for myself, is coming along fine. (I'm still amazed by the yarn).

Maybe I will have it done in time for warmer spring days. How wonderful it would be to be able to take of a cardigan, because it's sunny outside...

A favourite artist

It's actually not that long ago, that I discovered the amazing artist Jennifer Davis and her breathtaking work.

I knew from the minute I saw her paintings and prints, that I wanted to buy a print from her.

So I did - these 2 are the ones which I decided on.

Joys of a Thursday

On Thursday afternoon I got this beautiful, beautiful lot of yarn. To open the cardboard box was a burst of colour and life. I have so high hopes for this quality. The mix of cotton and wool will be perfect for me. 

Once more I gladly bought yarn from Garnudsalg.dk.

I'm so amazed and satisfied with the colours and the vivid glow, which has been captured in the threads. Skovbær (forest berry) and Appelsinskræl (orange peel). Even the names are cool and kind of marvellous.

He must be a clever and talented man, that Kenneth, who owns Garnudsalg. A man who very clearly knows his way around fibres, and it shows so much that he puts a lot of carefulness, knowledge and passion into the yarns.

My plan is to make a cardigan for myself - I really, really hope that I get to carry out that wish, before I turn the yarn into something for children. That happens far too often for me!

Another lovely moment was this evening.
I heard a knock on our frontdoor, but when I opened the door, there was no one to be seen. But something was - these 2 fine and transparant ice lanterns. Shaped like stars - with a light so soft and welcoming.

I can't tell you how happy they made me and Christian - whom I yelled at right away so he could see them (at first he thought that something had happened to me!!).

Where on earth did they come from, you might ask yourself? Well, right away I knew who would do such a
heartwarming and brilliant act. This sweet woman.
