Did anyone say Donuts??

Having lived in London with a Dunkin' Donuts nearby, I have grown fond of these round cakes. Not so much in the "eating them way" - had too much of them in London!! - but more in the "love the shape and colors way".

So when I saw this fabulous fabric from Michael Miller here, there was no hesitation from my side. This I had to have.....

So, now it has arrived - I have so many ideas for what to make out of it. Maybe something round with a hole in the middle...

Fiona.....like the rest of you

Fiona, originally uploaded by lille-ursus.

I'm not making this beautiful pattern by Rasmilla for anyone. I simply had to try it out in a little size 2. I bought the pattern ages ago, and has been trying to find an excuse to knit it. But now I don't need one....

When will I ever learn not to start a zillion projects?

An old one returns

Many years ago I, when I was still at teachers collage, I got my friend Lone to buy a wonderful pattern and some yarn in Ålborg. Lone had shown me a gorgeous cardigan, which her mother in law had knitted for her son Frederik. And I was crazy about it from the minute I saw it.

I liked the fact that it was a bit special, and the animal pattern just took me by the heart. It looked great and I knew that it would be funny to knit.

So I got the pattern and the yarn, made it and Emil wore it as long as he could fit into it. Later on my sister's girl Emma borrowed it and lately it has been used by a nephew of ours.

Actually I had completely forgotten about it for a while, but when we got it back the other day, I remembered how Emil looked in it with his little fat cheeks in the hooded cardigan.

Now I think that I will try to find the pattern. Maybe I feel like knitting it again sometime in the future...

Vintage pattern

B2829Gallery, originally uploaded by sandritocat.

The other day I bought this fantastic vintage pattern at Sandritocat. It's an old Butterick pattern from the 60ties, but I think the shape of the tunic/dress is so up to date. The simplicity and the a-line is just what I love.

I adore looking at patterns for women's dresses from older days - especially the beautiful ones from the 50ties. They are so elegant. And the children's clothes patterns make me remember some of the clothes my mother sewed for me in the 70ties, when I was a child.

You should definitely have a look at the etsy shop, if you would like patterns, which aren't used by everyone...

With lots of room for swivelling

I finished the little Christmas skirt. I used a new - and to me unknown pattern - which had lots more width than the ones I have made before.

But at least that leaves the possibility for swivelling. Oh, how I enjoyed doing that when I was little. And the fact that the skirt has a - pink - lining, gives it more weight.

I still love the tree fabric SO much....

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7

Now I have found the brown things...
1. Our lovely head made by Emil 2. My brooch from Gudrun Sjöden
3. Lots of walnuts which my husband picked the other day
4. Emil knitted this brown "piece" a few years ago

5. A new olive fork 6. I love these kinds of flowerpots.
7. A Viking in brown and gold made by Emil

A pale blue challenge is given to Nina, Rosanna and Jeannet....

Forgiveness...

might be an option for this, if this charming couple move in to my house this December....

While I'm....

...looking for the
7 BROWN
things Hanne challenged me to find (I have come to realise that I don't have much stuff in brown!), I will show you what truely made my day, and turned an ordinary rainy Monday into something very special.

"Our love is no ordinary love. It has a history that spans a million years. It has a future that has no end. It has strength and wisdom. It is supporting and understanding. It is growing and learning. Our love is not bound by time, or space or mortal failings." ♥ These fine and loving words were given to me by my daughter - they filled my heart with so much joy and made me very proud. Proud of my little 17-year old poetry loving daughter and proud of being a mom.

The LDS

So here it is my Lazy Days Skirt for the sew along I mentioned yesterday.

I added a few circles at the bottom of the skirt, to give it a little twist.

LAZY DAYS SKIRT sew along

I have joined the Lazy days skirt sew along at One Crafty Mama, which started at the 12th of October and carries on for 5 days. Do you know the free Lazy days skirt pattern from Oliver + s? If not then have a look right here.

Now you might think that I'm a lazy sewer, with nothing to show you...but my camera is in Sweden! I'm making a couple of Lazy days skirts and hope to show them to you tomorrow...At least I can show you the fabric I'm using.

P.S. Remember this book? I recieved my copy of the book "Det er ganske vist" a few days ago, and I'm thrilled. It's a really fine book with many original ideas.

Dizzy Mizz Lizzy - 11:07 PM

If you pass by my house these days, you will probably hear this song - a bit too loud. I have loved it for ages, and so does Anne-Sophie now. Dizzy Mizz Lizzy, the children off from school and holiday...who can ask for more on such a sunny autumn day? Have a wonderful Tuesday...

And for a very brief moment we hoped to get tickets for one of the reunion concerts with Dizzy Mizz Lizzy....but no! They were already gone :(

Don't you ever get lost in the past?

In my daughter's room she has a whole wall full of pictures of her family and friends. She has always appriciated having photos of the ones she love and the ones who are important in her life. Sometimes I can't help stopping at the wall to have a look at all the many faces and stories they contain. I did so this morning and my eyes caught this old picture of Emil, Anne-Sophie and I - oh, and Peter Helmig of course. Good old Peter Helmig.

I remember that it is taken the summer Anne-Sophie broke and crushed her elbow - right before starting in school for the very first time - at the age of 6.

She fell from a climing frame on a vacation in Skagen, and had to go through an operation. My parents came all the way to look after Emil, so we could be at the hospital with Anne-Sophie.

When my parents saw Anne-Sophie the next day, they brought her the sweet brown teddy bear. He had to have a name, and what was more obvious than the name of the sweet doctor who operated on her elbow? So Peter Helmig is was (and yes, the doctor is the brother of another wellknown Helmig).

This little fellow caught my eyes on the the wall too. Emil wasn't more than 3-4 years old when he sold flowers he had picked in our garden. We knew that his grandparents would pass our house that afternoon, so there he sat, waiting to sell some beautiful flowers. I was standing behind the door, ready to assist him (and look after him...).

Oh, how I love to get lost in the past for a minute or two.....Don't you?

It all came through my door...

My beautiful embroidery floss prize, which I won at Jeannette Mariae's lovely blog.
The new ribbons from Aspegren.
And the book I pre-ordered ages ago....
