How many did I need?

I had planned to make a little apron dress size 12-18 months. I was going to make it reversible by using a Liberty fabric with small watering cans, and a pale pink one with strawberries.

I found my patterns, pinned them to the fabrics, cut it all out and left it in my sewing room for a couple of days.

This morning I wanted to have a look at the parts again, and wondered why I cut out 4 pieces. You see, the apron dress only have 1 pattern piece, so I needed 2 pieces which were going to form the finished apron!! I had 4.....

Clever me...I had cut out parts for 2 apron dresses!!!

Where did my mind wander off to when I cut it out??

  1. Dear Ulla,

I guess it was the Thread-Fabric-and-Needle Fairy who came during the night to cut out two more pieces.

Sometimes she can be quite lovely, but it happens from time to time that she is in a funny mood and hides the scissors or the red embroidery floss.

She hasn´t been at my studio recently, but when I read your post I all of the sudden knew where she had been...

    Skøn farvesammensætning i øvrigt.

  5. Oh, yes! It must have been her sneaking around at nighttime messing up my sewing parts. :))

I do love her the most when she inspires and gives me a happy sewing feeling. ;)

    Lots of smiles
    Ulla

    ..............

  7. Dear Ulla,

I think it's quite clever from you (or the fairy Juliane mentioned) to make two of the sweet aprons. You can never have enough of them if you ask me and the fabric is so sweet. I recognize one from the bunny.

I also happened to cut out twice as much than I needed... but that's quite a while ago, for a tunic...

    Kind regards Nina

  8. Love the fabric combo you chose. I've done the same thing once before...my mind tended to wander too.

    ..............

It's so annoying to make that kind of mistakes, Nina but at least I didn't cut it out in a wrong way and ended up with too little fabric. (I have done that before you see ;))

And you are right...the pale pink one was the inside of the ears of the bunyy. You remember well. :))

    Have a nice evening. :))

    .................

Thank you so much, Melissa. I have been wanting to make something from that Liberty fabric for a while. It has been in my stash for too long. ;)

I'm happy to hear that your mind wander off too, while cutting out the pieces. :))
