Don't you think it's time for a new book - a sewing book??
It's not often that sewing books with children's clothes are available - or at least not as often as I would like them to be - so I'm always thrilled whenever I find an interesting one.
Sew Cute Couture by Gail Doane might be one of those. It's a book about making jackets, dresses, skirts and bags. A really girly book.
Actually one of the jackets in the frontpage reminds me so much of a little quilted jacket I made for Anne-Sophie when she was a toddler. Maybe that's what brought my attention to the book....
Well, I have pre-ordered yet another sewing book - for girls too.
Carefree Clothes for Girls by Junko Okawa is going to be published in October, and I'm really looking forward to see what's in the book.
Having seen a few pages from the book, makes me rather expectant. It's just the kind of ideas that I adore....things which I would never think of myself.
Now we only need a very special sewing book - with patterns for boys only. They are out there as single patterns to buy, I know that, but we rarely see them in a book.
However, I must say that Ottobre and Oliver+s make patterns for some really fine boys' stuff....
But still....
Dear Ulla,
ReplyDeleteyou are so right. I never find anything sweet for the little man to sew. The trouser I made for him was a girls pattern were I left some things away, so it was boyish.
Take care
Nina
Uhh nogen fine bøger :-)
ReplyDeleteSkal netop i gang med ungerne vintergarderobe :-)
Kære Ulla
ReplyDeleteTak for inspirationen.

Dear Nina,
ReplyDeleteIt's always hard to find boys' patterns...but lucklily it has been a bit better in recent years. But still no book with boys' patterns only!!
Then it's good to have fine creative skills like you, so other patterns can be transformed to fit boys. :))
Take care too, Nina :))
Ulla
...............
Hi Ulla,
ReplyDeleteYes, it's so strange that there's so little room for sewing for boys. If you think about half of the babies that are born are boys (rough guess from my side). And it's not only the patterns, it's the fabric as well. Luckely there's Ottobre and the internet. But I too would welcome a book.
