An unusual mix

If you love Liberty fabrics and Hello Kitty then you better have a look at this limited fabric collection from Liberty Japan.

Sanrio, the company which creates Hello Kitty - and many other characters, celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year.

For that reason printed Tana Lawn cottons featuring Hello Kitty designs have been made in a collaboration between the 2 companies..

Absolutely a mix which I hadn't seen coming...but possibly a chance to make both mothers and daughters happy!

I forgot to tell you where you can get hold of the lovely fabric. Right here...

The joys of domestical animals

They don't make a mess

They need no food

You will never hear them mooing, grunting or neighing

They don't take up a whole lot of space

They exercise when ever you want them to

Even the youngest friend can buy them for you

My day

Yesterday Jeanette asked me to play along - so here is my day:

The morning's positive thing: The smiles on the face of my son + I managed to get the laundry inside before the rain began...

The morning's negative thing: Must definitely be the rain (I had hoped to go into our garden)

Outside my window: I can see cars driving by and hear their wheels splashing through puddles. Through the other window I can see a tiny bit of our garden.

On my TV right now: News...

I want to listen to: Silence for a while. And later on I will look forward to hear the voices of my two children.

Today I'm wearing: My beloved Marimekko dress with all the tiny pockets. Black trousers. And no socks - how wonderful to be able to do that!

Today I have to do this: I have almost already reached my goals for today...the daily domestic work has been done. I only need to do some more laundering...and wait for the rain to stop!!
Futhermore I'm going to spend time with my children, read the paper and go to the store to see if the new Boligliv has come. Maybe I will sew a stitch or two on the Mario bag....

But I would rather be doing: Be sitting in a summerhouse on the little island Fanø with my family.

In my window sill: I have lots of rosy flowers and always candles in some form.

In the weekend I willl be doing this: Well, I have the fabulous concert to go to. That will absolutely be a highlight of the weekend. And then my son and I will get his clothes and things ready for his trip with his class. He's going to be away for 4 days!
Hopefully I will have time and energy for some crafting as well.

If you would like to tell us a bit about your day, then feel free to grab the questions...

Bloomsbury Beaded Earings

I just bought myself the most beautiful pair of earrings. They are the essence of summer and spring if you ask me.

I have been looking at them for a while on etsy. They caught my eye immediately when I entered "Nest pretty things" by Tamar. Mainly because of the lovely mix of colors.

If you are a mum - or any other girl - with a weakness for pastels and sweet jewlery for children, you had better be steadfast when you enter this shop, which Tamar has recently opened.

When the earrings arrive in my mailbox, I will be ready to wear them with summer colors and hopely in summer weather....

Happy rabbit

Happy rabbit, originally uploaded by lille-ursus.

I'm getting there with the rabbit I said was going into the little Känken rucksack. It's for a little boy called Linus and he turns 2 tomorrow. He's the nephew of Anne-Sophie's boyfriend Tim.

The pattern I'm using is from wonderful Fiona.

Right now I'm sewing on the rabbit's braces, and then I will carry on with something for his neck.
I can't decide whether he is going to have a collar added to his white shirt, or whether a knitted scarf would be better.

Along with the collar I would a make a line of embroidered buttons - I don't want anything to fall of - down his belly.

And if I have some time left I will make him a little rucksack. That could be cute...and what if the rabbit had a little rabbit in his rucksack?

Oh no - I won't even go there....

Känken

Did you have a Känken?? I sure did back in the early 90ties when I studied. I had several during the years - in different colors and I loved each and every one of them. They always ended up looking washed-out and worn, but  I never experienced that they broke - no matter how many kilos of books they carried at that time.

For many years I didn't see that many Fjällräven Känken bags, but now they are back!

And a mini Känken has been made. It's really cute.

My daughter fells the same way, and I know that she and her boyfriend are going to buy one for a little nephew's birthday.

The bag isn't going to be empty - I hope to finish a rabbit to put into it. It would look fine if a rabbit peeped out of the bag...

Peace!

We all want peace in real life, but I sure
wouldn't mind getting it in fabric too.

Getting longer...

Getting longer..., originally uploaded by lille-ursus.

I have started the scarf I ordered from Theresa Jessing's shop. It's a lovely kit and I enjoy knitting in the yarn, which is a mix of silk and merino.
The colors are fine too, and I know that I will wear the scarf a lot in the future. Soft and nice is how it feels like - perfect to put around one's neck.

I have ordered yet another kit from "Sort Lakrids". It's a sweet little sweater in brown wool - it's called the "Skibstrøje". I love how Theresa Jessing has designed the neck with the 4 buttons.

And you know what? She's writing a new book....I will look so much forward to that.

Dizzy Mizz Lizzy - Love is a Loser's Game

Remember last time when I mentioned Dizzy Mizz Lizzy?? How we didn't succed in getting tickets for their reunion concerts??

Guess what my daughter and her boyfriend are giving me for my birthday later this month??

Tickets to hear and see Dizzy Mizz Lizzy!!!

I feel so lucky....to have the tickets - and most of all to have such a sweet and caring daughter.

Lille Livstykke

Livstykke, originally uploaded by lille-ursus.

The little vest I started a few days ago is done. Well, almost done. I still need to make it wet, put needles in it and let it dry.
And then sew it together in the 2 sides, crochet around the neckline and at the same time add a little buttonhole.

I will wait a while with the button, because I still don't know whether Christian's brother and his girlfriend are having a boy or a girl.
But I thought about blue-ish fabric buttons for a boy and pink-ish for a girl...not very inventive - I know.

Actually I have enough yarn left to make another vest, I think. But to be sure I will buy one more skein of "Isager's mercericeret bomuld" in another color. The next vest will have stripes.

For my new spring coat

For my new spring coat, originally uploaded by lille-ursus.

I need a new coat for the windy spring days and cold summer evenings.

I have always loved stripes, and stripes it was. I really wanted the fabric to look in a different way - the bottom was supposed to be navy blue and the stripes white. But that combination was nowhere to be found on the day I needed it....

For now I have red buttons, but I can't make up my mind whether it is going to be another color. Orange or yellow could be cool too. Or purple.

A pattern has not been found yet, either. I'm still searching.....roughly I  know what I want. And I do have a couple of patterns in reserve should I not find what I want.

The length of the coat is going to be no longer than to my knees, I don't want a hat on it, I want pockets and some other funny details.

She keeps popping up - little redcap the youngest

No matter how many other projects I start, this beautiful little girl will not leave my head.

She is lying on my sewing table, waiting for me to decide where she is going to be in the future.
At the moment she is living her life on a piece of paper, but I intend to move her on to beautiful fabric. Linen fabric of course.

At first I was convinced that white linen would suit her, but while moving my sewingroom I found another linen fabric of mine. In a kind of light greenish-blue color.

I can't make up my mind and I keep little redcap the youngest waiting. Not for long, though - one gets seriously addicted to wearing Cathy's magical embroidery patterns....

So I pick the white one...maybe.

Done with the purple numbers

Done with the purple numbers, originally uploaded by lille-ursus.

Now I need to embroider the yellow numbers on another piece of Gingham linen.

In Denmark 7-9-13 is an old saying if you are superstitious. A bit like "knock on wood".

I'm going to use this one for a pillow, and the same thing is going to happen to the one with the yellow numbers. When it's done...

I can hardly wait...

...for these lovely characters to return!

Toy Story 1 + 2 are definitely among my favourite movies.
August the 26th you will find me in the nearest cinema. ;)
