Do you count sheep??

While looking for some photos of our sweet cousin Emma (who is going to be confirmated soon and gets to have a surprise), I found this one.

It's a six year old photo of a bed linen, which Emil and I made together for our nephew/cousin Thorbjørn, who had just been born at that time.

I had asked Emil whether he would help me, and make a beautiful drawing which I could embroider on the bed linen. He got very excited an I remember how he drew and drew for a long time.

He had decided to make sheep for Thorbjørn. Because in case he couldn't sleep, he could always count sheep on the top of his duvet - hence the numbers over each sheep.

When the bed linen had been sewn and wrapped, I must admit that I wish we could have kept Emil's gorgeous sheep for ourselves.

And Emil felt the same way, even though he wanted to give his new little cousin a fine present.

It would have been so fun to have...
I simply have to look for the drawings he made - I know I kept them. Maybe I could make another set just like it.

    1. Mange tak, Merete. :))

Det kunne have været sjovt for Emil at have sengesættet til sine egne børn engang.
Hav en rigtig god weekend. :))

  3. Oh how sweet and what a great idea! I can understand you would have rather kept it but I cross my fingers you find the drawings and redo these sheeps.

I am waiting for Juliane to arrive this evening. She will stay for a week and give another doll making course next weekend, until then we have time for catching up eye to eye (not ear to ear) and maybe sew some things...
    Come on over as well!

    1. I have a fairly good idea where to find Emil's sheep drawing, Nina. So the bed linen will definitely be made again sometime in the future. :))

It sounds absolutely wonderful that you and Juliane are going to spend some lovely days together. I'm sure that you will both enjoy it very much. :)) Seing each other for real is so much more special. I bet that being with you 2 will be SO inspirering.

Have a gorgeous week - and thanks a lot for your sweet "invitation". That would have been so cool. :))

  5. Thank you so much, Carla. :)) I'm really happy that you like Emil's little sheep. He's 14 years old by now, and he remembers very well when he got the idea to draw sheep for the baby to count. :))

The dress your daughter and you made was so fine. Such a dress will give your girl so many lovely experiences, I think. Both now and when she grows older. It would be wonderful to show it to her own children one day in the future. :))
