Oh no...or oh yes?

Now that I have seen Dr. Martens in yellow, I can't get them out of my head! But on the other hand I can't help thinking that such an intense colour, perhaps doesn't go that well with being 40.

And how weird is that? I have never ever had a problem about my age, but since I had my last birthday, it somehow pops up in my mind, whenever I make a choice concerning my apperence.

It doesn't prevent me from choosing wisely and having it my way in the end, but the fact that the thought enters my mind at all, bothers me horribly. Do you know that feeling?

Oh, and by the way. If you see a 40 year old in yellow Dr. Martens some time in the future, then maybe it's just me...

For little girls...and boys

Photo from design-club.dk

I just bought myself this new - and oh so gorgeous - pattern called FIE from designclub.dk. I like every little bit of this fine and feminine cardigan. From the A-line shape to the tiny dots at the bottom of the cardigan.

It's really the kind of cardigan I would love to see all little girls wearing. It must be so wonderful and free for them to wear. Nothing which fits too tightly - it even has a touch of the twirly factor.

Actually I was rather keen on the green colour on the photo, but I ended up with an iceblue. Along with the knitting kit I ordered the book below, which I mentioned earlier on.

From Eszter Schall's hands

I'm dreaming of this beautiful print called Woman 2011. The artist is Eszter Schall who is a graphic designer and an illustrator. She lives in Hungary, and she has a shop on etsy, where she sells her unique work.

I like the way she uses colours and the fact that she has a naive style. I'm a huge fan of naive artists.

If I have to be completely honest then I had better show you this other print from Eszter Schall as well, called Lovemaking with nature

I want that too...badly.

I'll be done soon...

The cardigan for Agnes is close to being done. I have enjoyed knitting it - so much.

Making a round yoke, is a splendid way of working.
I love how it fits a person, and it really makes the pattern pop in a beautiful and suitable way.

When the cardigan is ready to wear, I will make a little dress or a pair of trousers to go with it. The fabric is going to be Gingham in red and white, with tiny squares which become babies and toddlers nicely.

The sheep cardigan will be next on my knitting list, simultaneously with the stripy Liselotte.

Neon & varnish

While my husband has been working with fine sandpaper and oil on our kitchentable, I have been working in much smaller scales.

Painted

A little plate rack-ish shelf, which Emil and I found on a local fleamarket a couple of years ago, has been painted in the softest mix of light blue and mint - and has been waiting for knobs!
To prevent it from becoming too pastel, I decided to buy wooden knobs and paint them in neon colours.

Well, actually my first thought was to make crocheted knobs somewhat like these from Pickles. (A very cool idea if you ask me). But having looked long and hard for the right size of knobs without any luck, made me resort to paint instead.

Neon knobs

I like how they turned out, and now I just want to give the 3 of them a coat of varnish, so they can withstand a lot of pulling drawers in and out. Tiny drawers for bits and bobbins...

Spira

While I dream of this fantastic fabric from Sweden, I also damn the fact that getting packages sent in the mail from the same country is SO expencive..

But that doesn't prevent me from hoping, that I might get all those beautifuls colours and lines the next time I go to Sweden. A search will be made for certain.

Both pieces of textile are from Spira, and I almost get tempted to say that, once again the Swedes have designed fabrics which are second to none...

I adore how bold and vivid neon colours add a bit of spice to our lives at the moment. Never ever had I imagined that they would return from the 80ties. Nor had I seen myself loving them as dearly as I do - just as long as they come in limited amounts and tiny splashes here and there.

Do you count sheep??

While looking for some photos of our sweet cousin Emma (who is going to be confirmated soon and gets to have a surprise), I found this one.

It's a six year old photo of a bed linen, which Emil and I made together for our nephew/cousin Thorbjørn, who had just been born at that time.

I had asked Emil whether he would help me, and make a beautiful drawing which I could embroider on the bed linen. He got very excited an I remember how he drew and drew for a long time.

He had decided to make sheep for Thorbjørn. Because in case he couldn't sleep, he could always count sheep on the top of his duvet - hence the numbers over each sheep.

When the bed linen had been sewn and wrapped, I must admit that I wish we could have kept Emil's gorgeous sheep for ourselves.

And Emil felt the same way, even though he wanted to give his new little cousin a fine present.

It would have been so fun to have...
I simply have to look for the drawings he made - I know I kept them. Maybe I could make another set just like it.

From Oberweiden to Roma

These days c'est Dimanche is presenting their new stunning spring collection. A moment I have been anticipating with much excitement.

During this week they reveal a new design every day, and today it was time to show us Roma.

From c'est Dimanche
As always they have managed to put a vintage look into their new patterns, and they do it in the most lovely and tasteful way. No unnecessary additions if you ask me.

Oberweiden and  Manhatten are also new models - I know for sure that I have to grapple with Roma and Oberweiden sometime. Maybe more. The near future will show.

I can hardly wait for tomorrow...

Grisling

A little trip to another town ended up with a visit to Henrichsens Uldspinderi. A spinning mill which makes gorgeous yarn (for Marianne Isager among others).

It didn't take long before the colours on the yarn you see below, made me decide what to get. 2 skeins of half wool and half angora. Oh my, I'm pleased with the colours. Some people might think that they look awful together, but I simply adore them.

Grisling by lille-ursus

I always need to flick through the pages of Hanne Thorsen's patterns whenever I'm at Henrichsens Uldspinderi, and this visit was no exception.
Little pigs all in a row - a pattern called Grisling. That's what I'm happy to have chosen today.

Whether the chubby, four-legged creatures are going to be made in the yarn I brought home, isn't sure. I have another idea I need to try out with those colours.

Life of today

I have started reading a new blog. A blog full of life, youth and cool ideas, but also a blog which captures the irreplaceable and heartwarming moments in life. Those we tend to forget in the business of everyday life.

I know the blog owner very well. Actually so well that she is 1 of the 3 children, whom I love indescribably much after my own 2 children. My bigsister's children Andreas, Emma and Ida.

So it's Ida who has decided to let us follow her thoughts and ideas - at the age of 21- on a blog. I think you should have a look. Maybe you will love it as much as I do...

Marie will - hopefully - save the day

After sewing a few of these dresses for some of my little friends years back,

Dotty tunic/dress

I have been keen on finding a similar pattern for myself (I have been told that the fit is good). But I have had no luck, until I saw the pattern Marie a while ago...and forgot all about it till tonight.

The pattern has just the right shape and I just adore the neckline - round and feminin. And the length is perfect!

I have so much fabric that I can use for lots of Marie dresses. Dots, stripes and of course Gingham. But also beautiful plain ones, which I would love to decorate with tiny embroidered details. And not forgetting gorgeous bias tape. I just bought the most cool one today in an intense - almost neon like - yellowish green.

From experience I know that mail from France doesn't take many days to reach Denmark. I can't wait to try out whether the pattern is as good as I hope for...

I love Broccoli!!

Both when I eat it, but also when I see it in this kind way.

It's a drawing from Anne-Sophie's daily journal of drawings. Something all the students are supposed to make during their studies of architecture.

Anne-Sophie tests and challenges herself in varoius drawing techniques. And this particular item is made with a few lines and an unknown amount of tiny dots.

I could so easily see it in a passe-partout in a simple black frame...on my wall. (Along with the onion and carrot she made in the same way).

When ever she comes to visit us, she brings along her computer and her journal or other drawings. She knows that we love to see what she has made, since the last time she was home. It's inspirering and very exiting to see what she's working at.

I used to draw and paint a great deal, but in recent years it has been close to nothing. But all Anne-Sophie's ideas have made me want to draw again - so far I have only accomplished to buy myself some new pencils...but I'm drawing in my mind.
