Birds and dots

Soon this tunic - or rather: top - will be done.
It's made from the pattern I recently bought, and the only thing I have left is finishing the bias tape on the last sleeve.

I'm sure that this pattern will be a succes. I adore the shape of it and so does my Anne-Sophie.

This one is made with short sleeves - perfect for the kind of weather we are having right now. I think that I will make a sleeveless one soon...that will do as a tunic and a dress.
Well, I'm off to do some more sewing by hand.

Canoeing

Yesterday Emil and Christian had a wonderful day at the beach. They went canoeing because a friend of my husband has started his own firm, in which he teaches people how to canoe. He held a reception on the beach and the visitors had the chance to go canoeing.

Due to his good balance from skating, Emil did rather well in the canoe - and I saw it myself on the little piece of video which Christian made.

Emil had a blast - eventhough the wather was a bit cold. He wore a wetsuit, but it was too big and didn't do that much good. (Luckily the weather was warm and sunny).

I'm sure that Emil hasn't had his last day in a canoe...

Dinner set for 12

I can hardly get my arms down!! Look what I found at our local thrift shop: a complete dinner set for 12 persons + a coffeepot, a sugar bowl, a cream jug and a bowl for potatoes. Every thing for only 75 Danish kroner (about 13 $ ).

I adore the graphic simplicity which the red dots make on the white. I know I will not get tired of looking at those dots for a long while.

I you asked me years back, whether I would buy a dinner set in a thrift shop, I would have said no right away. At that time I didn't like the thought of using something, which other people had owned.

Today I don't mind that at all. On the contrary I like that the thing I buy, has had a past. And when it comes to the cleaning part, I always wash the item very thoroughly. Like the dinner set - it is now all lined up in our dishwasher for a good wash.

The people who are in charge of our local thrift shop are all volunteers. It's mostly retired men and women who mind the shop, and I love to hear them chat away, while I look for treasures. They clearly enjoy being there, and they are always so helpfull.

Today when Emil and I had to bring the entire (64 pieces) dinner set home, they suggested that we borrowed a trolley from our local grocery, because they didn't want us to carry all of that. So Emil asked whether we could borrow one, and then every single piece of crockery was neatly wrapped in newspaper by the old ladies, before we were "allowed" to put it all in the trolley.

And off we went with our dotty dinner set.....I felt a bit stupid while walking through our town, but luckily we don't live that far from the thrift shop.

So now the trolley has been returned to the grocery, the dinner set has been unwrapped and put into the dishwasher, and everyone in the family has approved it. Now we only need to try it out...

Flowers by mail

Today I planted some Poppies in our garden - what a wonderful flower - and meanwhile I tried to imagine how all our flowers will look like, when they have grown some more.... Pictures from last spring and summer pop up in my mind.

I got all carried away and had to have more pretty plants. The ones you see above will come to our house by mail. Isn't that smart?

It's a shop called Staudefeen which will send them. I never knew that those kind of shops existed before my sweet neighbour linked to some. She knows SO much about plants and gardening, and used to write about it on her blog Frøken Solhat. Sadly she doesn't blog any more.

I will be prepared to go get the flowers!! They have to be picked up at the post office the same day - or the day after - they arrive.....so they don't dry out.

New patterns

I finally got these patterns today. I ordered them online at Stof 2000 because I needed a good pattern with short sleeves.

I had hoped to recieve them Saturday, but didnt. I know that it's only patterns, but I was so disappointed, because I had been looking forward to start sewing during the weekend. But now they are here...

The green one is for children and the purple one for grownups. I like the fact that each pattern is actually 3 different dresses/tunics. That's especially great if the tunic becomes a favourite of mine!

I picked this dotty fabric with birds for the first tunic. I adore that fabric - it's sweet but not too sweet, more kind of elegant.

The pattern is very easy to sew, so I assume that it will be done in a few days. Hopefully....

Colours in front of my house

Colours in front of my house, originally uploaded by lille-ursus.

I have a good look at these Tulips every time I walk by them in our front garden.

They look so amazing at the moment. - especially because the blue and purple flowers behind them, bring out their beauty even more.

I can't get myself to take them inside in a vase....I would not enjoy them as much as I do outside.

So they live on in their little group, untill the day the wind blows off their red and mighty heads....

Outdoor sewing

Outdoor sewing, originally uploaded by lille-ursus.

The gorgeous weather we have been having lately, makes me want to sew outside. I love to open our terrace door, next to our kitchen, and sit in the doorway with my needlework.

It's not too hot nor too cold - simply just perfect for outdoor sewing....and if some one calls me or needs me to do something, it's easy to take my work inside in a hurry.

I hope that tomorrow will be another day for outdoor pursuits.

A big bite of Easter

...to all of you.
And all of a sudden the ear had dissapeared! It's definitely not bad to get a huge chocolate hare from your grandparents....

Round and about

Today we went for a little ride around Hjarbæk Fiord....

It's such a beautiful trip with lots on amazing nature. Water, woods, meadows, hills, vallies and much more.

Our first stop was at the habour in Hjarbæk, which is a little village which used to be a port. Many potatoes were shipped from Hjarbæk to England, but today it has a marina insted. Besides the many ships you find a little restaurant and a shop called Butik Remme. We go there once in a while, to see if new and exciting things have arrived. And we also have to buy the gorgeous chocolate they sell. Emil took a picture of the shop and it really looks cosy, when you walk towards Butik Remme. Today we bought a little hen with words all over her back - and some chocolate...The beautiful sunny day also made us enjoy an icecream.

Off we went on our litte trip around the fiord and the last stop we made, was in a tiny place called Lundø. We some times go to the beach at this place in the summer, and today we also drove by it to have a look at the blue water and see a windsurfer, who was struggleling to stay on his surfboard.

On the way back from the beach, we had a look inside a place called Savillas. It's a café and a shop at the same time. We haven't been there before, but I can assure you, that we will come back to have a cup of something and a homemade cake (like the one you see below). The atmosphere in the café was very special and extremely cosy. The guests were seated at small tables while they drank their tea - from gorgeous tea sets - and talked to each other.

I can highly recommend Savillas...

The shop part of Savillas had lots to offer as well. If you adore items from French and Swedish fleamarkets, this is the right place to visit. I also saw ribbons from Aspegren and Maileg's many products among a million other things.

A basket - in which we can keep our keys, phones and other stuff, which we never remember where we put - we simply had to buy along with some beautiful cards from Savillas.

What a wonderful day we had....

Crafting collage

This little collage pretty much sums up some of the things in my creative doings at the moment....

New books have arrived from France, fabrics were sent from the USA and gorgeous, gorgeous yarn and pattern came all the way from the Faroe Islands. Futher more I just recieved some wrapping paper from Norway this morning.

It's from Minimega and I'm not sure that I can use it for wrapping. It's far too pretty for that!

The pink fabric with mushrooms is a tunic in the making. I'm just trying to decide which bias tape I'm going to use for it in the neckline and at the sleeves...

I'm trying very hard not to start knitting the little elephant sweater and the new cardigan from the Faroe Islands. I definitely want to finish the dress from Garn-iture before doing that.....

40

My lovely husband (and dearest friend) turned 40 last Thursday, and yesterday he threw a party for some of his male friends and family.

Christian had a wonderful day among the sweet people he invited. And I really enjoyed to hear them talk and laugh - and see them play outside in the gorgeous sunshine. Luckily one never gets too old for that!

Today we all need to relax and just enjoy each others company....and feel happy about the way yesterday turned out.
