3 knittings

Well, I can't prove it with photos, but the little brown Norwegian sweater for our niece is done. I finished it this Friday and actually thought that it wasn't that girly.

You see, I believed that we were going to get a nephew - and bets have been lost due to that opinion! - so I thought that the sweater would be fine.
But as it turned out to be a girl, I would have loved to add a tiny cross-stitch heart on the front of the sweater. That I didn't have the time to do, so I sewed on the 4 wooden buttons on the shoulders with pale pink thread.

Now I'm back to knitting the marine cardigan for Anne-Sophie. I hope to get it done soon, so she doesn't have to freeze.

Once in a while I pick up another little knitting, which I started yesterday. A classic Djævlehue for little Agnes - that's what our niece is going to be named.

The pattern is from the magazine Hendes Verden and you find it right here - sadly it's only in Danish. But if you have a look on ravelry there are some patterns for Dvævlehuer (devils' hats) in English.

And don't get scared - you might see real Devil hats too.....

Oh, I love books...

I'm very excited about this book with children's costumes, which I ordered the other day. A book I know I will use a lot, because I know from previous experience that the patterns are good and well designed.

And another fabulous book is on it's way now:

I know I promised not to write any more about the baby blanket! But since Marie-Louise kindly asked wheter she could see the whole quilt, then I couldn't turn her down.

So here you are, Marie-Louise... :)

 My first and very bumpy quilt (which probably ends up with a bunch of untied quilting threads!) But I sure loved making it - well, most of the time.

And then I promise not to write about this particular quilt anymore.
Hopefully new and funny projects will take it's place in the future - I already have some waiting for me:

The little baby girl niece - who has no name yet - has a bigsister too. And of course she needs to get something as well. Becoming a bigsister is a great thing, but I guess that it can be a bit tricky at times with all that fuss a new baby brings. So I want to make her something she can play with - or should I say in.

She loves dresses and princess stuff, so I have planned to make her a princess dress from this wonderful book. It's written by Lenée Grue and Line Watt, and the dresses are made from vintage fabrics. A fabulous idea.

If I have the time, I have thought of making a pillow for her new room. With this embroidery on it:

Three sweet girls

With all that sewing on the baby quilt, I completely forgot to show you what I bought from Cathy some weeks ago.

Another brilliant embroidery pattern from her hand - and this time with a very special purpose too.
The pattern is a drawing of Cathy's three beautiful girls Cate, Lily and Eme. The picture was made for the girls' birthday invitations.

When I'm going to make this embroidery, I know that I will have to make the girls look as true to life as possible. I don't know why I feel this way...it's just the way it is.

But since the baby blanket isn't all done yet, I push myself to that one piece of needlework. Starting other projects would only make me forget all about the blanket.
I can't tell you how much I hate it at the moment! A whole lot of the special quilting knots I have tied, somehow tend to untie themselves...so I'm doing them all over.

Look what I won! A beautiful USB stick from Kähler.

And I hadn't even had the time to discover it, due to the baby quilt which has been hanging over my head for the last weeks. But luckily Lis wrote a sweet note to tell me.

It was in a giveaway at this wonderful blog that I were one of 4 fortunate winners, who get to wear the elegant piece of jewellery.

I chose a yellow round one.  :))

I think I have to get a little ceramic wood of my own...

Bring on the girly stuff...

Now my desire to knit and sew things for little girls can be fulfilled. It turned out to be a niece that was born this Monday.

The quilt, however, is still not done - but I'm definitely getiing there. Fast....

Christel Seyfarth - again

Once more I crave one of Christel Seyfarth's magnificent designs. This time it's the STJERNETRØJE.

The first time I saw it in Christel's webshop, I actually didn't like it. The sleeves were to puffy for me and the colors...well, there was something with the colors.

But having looked at it for the 3th and 4th time, the feminine sweater/tunic grew on me, and now I have added the knitting kit to my Christmas wish list. (Oh yes, I have started that already - otherwise I can't come to think of anything to write on it when December is here!)

At this point I simply love the mix of colors. I think it suits the design so well, that the yarns are in soft colors. A fine contrast to many of Christel Seyfarth's other designs, which are much more colourful. Like the shawl I'm making.

Now I just have to wait...and see if my husband likes the idea.

Not so many loose hexagons...

...all over the place anymore! Because now I have sewn a lot of them together. Contrary to my expectations this part is even funny too, and it's a satisfaction to see the blanket grow bigger and bigger. My hopes are continuously positive...

Remember the little owls on the photo? Or didn't I write about them at all? No, I guess that it was the owl pattern from Fluff & Fuzz now that I come to think of it (or rather: after I have searched through my old blog posts). 

However, I came across these two little fellows when I sorted out some of my papirs. I have had this particular pattern for a long time now, and I just couldn't put it away - because I adore them badly. Having the picture of the owls in front of me while I sew, makes me smile....

Isn't it fabulous? I LOVE that expression, the hanging ears and the little tummy. Everything!

I have had the honor of making the wonderful fellow into an embroidery - in a little while. This sweet and talented woman is the owner of him. And she is going to crochet him as well - isn't that a gorgeous idea?

Besides being such a heartwarming woman, Rosanna is brilliant at creating. Drawing is just one of her numerous talents. Take a look and see for yourself.

But before I can start playing with Rosanna's rabbit, I have to deal with all my hexagons!

More time is needed!!

I'm doing my very best on the baby quilt and I do see more and more hexagons being added to the white piece of cardboard. All the little parts are on that cardboard so I can move it around, and futhermore it tells me how long I have left. The hexagons have to reach the borders of the cardboard - then I know that I have enough.

Time is definitely not on my side in this project. I still have to sew all the hexagons together, do the quilting and the binding before October the 18th!! But I keeping working as much as my back and neck allow me to...

I have decided that the back of the blanket is going to be made in the Gingham fabric in grey and white. Like in the top.

What I'm going to do about the quilting is a whole different story - that is still not clear to me...
