Another dotty shawl

Another dotty shawl, originally uploaded by lille-ursus.

This dotty shawl was one of the birthday gifts we gave Anne-Sophie when she turned 18. She already has a similar shawl in brown and that is her favourite.

Anne-Sophie had written on her wish list, that she wanted another dotty shawl knitted by me. The only problem - for me - was that she added the wish only 3 days before her birthday!!

I knitted and knitted as much as I was able to, and put away the knitting a numerous amount of times, in order for her not to see it.

I managed to keep it a surprise, but didn't get it done for her special day.( I had predicted that...) But I folded the knitting as neat as possible, and wrapped it.

Luckily she got very surprised and happy, eventhough it was only ½ a shawl....

  1. I love it that you are still able to surprise Anne-Sophie even with her being 18 years now.

The shawl looks cute, how do you do the knots?

Thanks for the recipe, I will try it out but one more thing, how do you make the icing? We don't make it here in Germany that often, at least it seems so, I have not a clue how to make it...

    Big hug, Nina

  4. Det ser helt fantastisk ud det sjal. Og så hjemmelavet. Ligner noget meget dyrt noget. Du må altså lige beskrive hvordan du gør....

Hvad skal du lave i morgen aften (tirsdag) kl. 17.30?

  6. I really love that too, Nina. I got so happy when she wrote that particular wish. :))

I will try to explain how I make the dots:
-At first I knit 5 stitches in one stitch on the frontside of the work - 1 knitstitch, 1 purl, 1 knitstitch, 1 purl, 1 knitstitch.
    - then I turn the knitting to the wrongside of the work and purl the 5 stitches
    - then I turn the work to the frontside again and knitstitch 2 stitches together and then knitstitch 3 stiches together.
    - and finally I pass 1 stitch over so you end up with one stitch.
    Continue to knit as usual...

I don't know whether this makes sense at all! If not, then please ask.

For the icing on the cake I used icing sugar and a tiny bit of water mixed together. It must not be too thin nor too thick. And of course blue color for food. That's it!

A big hug for you too. :))

    ..............

    Knopperne laves sådan her:

    ............

She sure has, Mildawg ;)) And I'm doing my best to finish it as soon as possible. Thanks a lot. :))
