When I was a child my mother often called me Ursus instead of Ulla.
It wasn't untill my first child was born, that I found out what my name meant. Looking in name books for beautiful girls' names, I discovered that Ulla means
the little she bear. And knowing that in latin
bear is translated into
ursus, I found it rather amusing that my mother had called me
ursus during my childhood! Even without knowing that she was right about the bear thing!!
So when I started blogging I thought that I would use something from my name.
Lille means
little in Danish, so
lille-ursus it was!
For a long time I have been looking for a wonderful little bear stamp to use in my snail mail for friends, but I haven't been able to find the right one. I wanted it to fit the lille-ursus part.
BUT recently I saw this gorgeous little fellow in Craft Pudding's shop, and I knew that he was the perfect lille-ursus bear.
So next time I write a letter, he will be stamped next to my signatur...
Mange hilsner
Ulla :0)
...............
Tak skal du have Marina :0))
ReplyDeleteSo now I know. I was wondering all time I followed you.
ReplyDeleteAnd... you have your own stars in the sky. Isn't that something?
The little bear is just perfect!! I have Woodstock from the Peanuts cartoons for mine!
ReplyDeleteI love the meaning of names too - that stamp is just beautiful
...................
Have you been thinking about that, Ria? It's always nice to get to know the answer on a question ;0)
Oh, yes...I had not thought about the star, but you are right. I look at it rather often :0)
..................
I really like it too, Di - and especially that it's a bear with a heart in the right place ;0) I hope I can live up to that bit ;0)
It sounds great with Woodstock - I just love him!!

It's rather interesting what one's name means, Cathy. And to see whether the meaning fits the person who carries the name :0)
I love the stamp! And that is such a sweet nickname your mother called you.
ReplyDeletewww.oiyi.blogspot.com
I think that the stamp is brilliant too, oiyi :0) I love the face on that little bear...
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how nicknames tend to last - once in a while my mother still says ursus, but not that often ;0)
