Dogs, dots and Gingham

These trousers are also for my little friend. It's a gift from me to him because he has been feeling poorly lately. I have thought a lot about him and his family...

Maybe it will be enjoyable for him to point on all the dogs on the fabric, and maybe he will even have fun saying woof as well.

It was nice to sew a bit again and since it was baby size, it was a little and manageable project. Perfect for me right now.

Circles, circles, circles.... I'm crocheting this.

With the many little circles which are needed for the scarf, I will most certainly get a bit more experinced in this particular kind of handwork. (At least I hope so). And maybe then I can take a wee step ahead in the wolrd of crocheting. But first things first - the scarf must get done.

I have decided to make the scarf 3 circles wide contrary to the recipe, where they have used 4.

The easiness of making the cirles, the size and the convenience of bringing it along, suit me perfectly. Especially in these days, where the warmth has finally hit us.

I like to sit in our little patio in our old garden furniture with Otto runing around. He loves to look for the titbits I hide for him. And since he doesn't possess the patience of an angel, I think he's rather satisfied with the fact, that a half-finished yarn circle can be put at the table in no time...

I did have an eye on Alyssa's new dog embroidery patterns some months ago. You know Alyssa, who designed the fabulous alphabet which I have written about several times before.

And when the dogs turned up in her etsy shop I simply had to buy this particular one:

Because can't you see it? It looks so much like Otto...Hmmm, at least I think so!



It will be embroidered in black - that's for sure.

How can one not love our sweet Otto...he such a wonderful and affectionate dog.

A foolhardy dog

Every night we take Otto for a long walk out in the meadows. He has always been a bit afraid of the many cows we meet out there. But getting older has improved that a lot - now he sometimes acts foolhardy towards them. Like yesterday. I don't think that he will go that close to them next time.....

The purple post

Every picture I have taken today has the color purple in it.....Even though it's one of my favourite colours, it wasn't my intention to take purple shots. The fabrics on my washing line were purple - the flowery Marimekko and the lovely Gingham. (Which I'm just about to use one of these days) In the garden my eyes caught the Franske Anemone - which is as late as the red one - and it had the same colour...purple!

On my way back inside I also saw the Kobjælde beside our frontdoor. It's DEFINITLY not supposed to have - purple - flowers in October either!!

Oh, I did see something not purple though (I wish I hadn't seen it!) - my skein of yarn, which was for a ghost hat for a nephew. It was laying on the way into our garden, where Otto left it.....not suitable for knitting!!

Otto - the dog formerly known as a Cocker Spaniel

Well, ever since the day we got Otto, we have always thought that he was a bit too big compared to his age.

The same thing was confirmed by the vet at his 1st visit there - he was some what heavier too...

And as the time has passed by, he hasn't developed to look particulary Cocker Spaniel-ish either.

So in order to figure out his excact breed, we have been reading and reading, and looking on various websites about Spaniels. There are 5 breeds all in all.

Now we know the answers - Otto is a Field Trail Spaniel.

That explains him being 10 centimetres taller than the average Cocker Spaniel and almost 5 kilos bigger - so far!!

We only have ourselves to blame, as we didn't buy him at a kennel.

But he is still our loving - some what wild - Otto.....

Otto - a yarn thief

Quite a few times Otto has tried to walk quietly - and in his eyes completely invisibly - into the livingroom, while heading towards my basket with some of my yarn....

Sometimes he succeed - like yesterday when he took this skein of wool. And ran as fast as he could into the utility room and jumped into his dog basket. Then tried to show an attitude which was so innocent. I could almost hear him say, "me? I have been laying here for a loooooooong time...."

He does however know, that it's not a good thing to steal my yarn...just see how guilty he looks!

Flower problems

What does this little georgeous creature has to do with

these favourite flowers of mine???

Otto simply decapitates them every time he runs by them!!!!! He does no such thing to any of my other flowers....

Maybe the new little flowerfairy - he just had to try it on, while Anne-Sophie was away! - can do something about the problem????

New day ahead

The sun has decided to come today as well - not a bad choice at all if you ask me....

After walking the kids to school - just for the cosiness - I saw this georgeus Geranium at our local grocery. I adore the colour and although I already own several Dronning Ingrid Geraniums (which look a lot like this one) I don't mind having a look-alike....they make me smile!

Soon I will be off to buy some tulle for Anne-Sophie's costume for her last day at school on Monday. (I have promised her not to reveal what she is going to be, but later on you will see.....)

They students dress up on this particular day and they all buy loads - really LOADS - of caramels, which they throw into all the classrooms at the school.

Emil and Anne-Sophie have already made a secret agreement for her to throw some caramels in his direction.....(And I know that she wants to go for Oskar's class as well)

I have the shorts waiting for me too - I hope they will be done today.

The day is ahead and it's time for me to start. Otto has woken up.....that leaves no time in quietness!

Gardening

Yesterday was a day of gardening. In the back of our garden we used to have some beautiful, tall trees, which sadly had to be cut down due to their far too tall height. Oh, how I felt sad the day they fell to the ground!! (Luckily we still have the marvellous lilacs to be dazzled by...) As the trees took a whole lot of space while they were there, we now have some new areas to "add" to our garden. We have decided to sow grass in it, plant some more fruit tress, build a little shed for our gardentools and lay out a little space where we can sit and enjoy the children make a bonfire. But at first the soil must be digged and that process has taken us a while...we have started, however, and yesterday Otto and I had so much fun (!!) - at least Otto did - pulling up grass, raking and so on..... Every time I digged up a tussock Otto was ready to take it and run away with it, after having given it a good shake....

All of a sudden a tiny toad jumped out of nowhere...I hate any kind of frogs or toads, but at the same time I find them extremely fascinating, so I had to take a picture of it!! Such a suspicious character!

Otto totally ignored it, eventhough it was only 8-10 centimetres from his nose - no wonder (and I have heard that a toad doesn't smell that nice either!)

My garden do have wonderful things too - at least I think so!

Today is the day

The day has arrived: we are going to see our possible dog!! After many and long discussions we finally agreed on a Cocker Spaniel puppie. According to the books we have read about the breed, a Cocker Spaniel is a very kind and loving dog, which appriciates it's family highly. And it can be used for hunting as well - a quality Christian will like too. But most importantly it is a wonderful family dog....

Emil is making lots of preparations for the little puppie - he has made two comfortable places for it to sleep. And has found toys and sticks for it to play with. His enthusiasm is really touching.

Anne-Sophie has picked out the collar - it's going to be the brown one with the green dots. I didn't even know that dotty collars like that excisted!!

Names for the little fellow - because it is a boy - have also been a huge part of our everyday life lately. Otto, Ludvig, Linus, Hubert, Futte, Anton, Pelle.......oh, so many suggestions have been made!

At 4 o'clock this afternoon we will see how it looks the little Cocker Spaniel - it almost feels like Christmas ;0)
